Several updates that have been needed to the blog are now done!!
One in particular, that comments weren’t showing up, is now fixed.
So, comment away!!!!

My next blog post will be the 1,000 th post since I started blogging.
To leave a post about that being my 1,000 th post would seem expected and cliche – so I figured I’d simply post this on my 999 th.
I got a comment on my New Years post making fun of Justin and me for our pathetic workout routine.
It made me laugh!!
It also reminded me how much I love the interaction on the blog when people leave comments. Comments just make things more fun, dynamic and interesting.
So if you’re reading and have a thought, comment or joke – make sure to leave it!! It will make the blog more fun!!!

Thanks to Jane Johnson, I’ve made the switch from Blogger to WordPress.
I’m pretty excited that all the old stuff was able to pull through and that there are a ton of new features I get to play with now on WordPress.
Still some tweaks… there should be some new pictures going up in the header in a week or two as well as a video feature to the Antioch Messages plug-in.
All in all, I think Jane is pretty amazing!!

She’s a pretty stellar graphic artist and photographer (check her out at www.ethniphotography.com).
There’s still a little work to be done to dial it in… but go ahead and tell me what you think!

In the meantime, here are some pics from sledding today (our new New Years Day tradition).
I have a friend who is going to be marketing his business on Facebook and MySpace etc. so I thought I’d get on Facebook to figure it out.
I now have more friends than I remembered having about a week or so ago. It’s amazing how fast and quick online networking happens.
Other than not having time for it… it’s pretty fun!!
So… evidently I’ve been blogging for 2 years (as of yesterday), which has amounted to some 585 posts.
I’ve got to say that I never envisioned this two years ago when I set up a blog one night and began with a post called “Frogs and Blogs.”
The blog has evolved into a tool that not only allows me to share random thoughts and happenings from life and church, but discipleship thoughts as well. Blogging, in many ways, is a form of e-discipleship.
Internet tools are never a replacement for organic relationships and such, but they are tools nonetheless.

The car is packed, so I’m calling myself officially “on vacation“!!
I hope to have a meaningful thought or two and maybe even a dynamite picture from the beach while I’m gone, but I’m not planning on blogging too much :)
Off to the time share (and the silly sales pitch I signed us up for so that we could get some free stuff)!!
Gary just hooked the blog up with a little facelift (thanks to Ben Edwards for his pics).
I was given the advice to remove the family picture to protect them since there are a lot of crazies out there on the internet.
I’m starting to feel the writing itch more and more lately (it comes in spurts for me)… so it’ll be fun to start throwing some energy into writing on the new “Garyized” layout!!
Just hit the “400 Post” mark on the blog… not bad!!
Blogging is a great tool for “digital discipleship” (even though lately it’s been more of a journal or communication tool than anything else).
Oh… and just so you don’t miss one of my favorite past topics, I will tag this one with “Kip” so that you can click on it and see all the wonderful past pictures of our Youth Pastor Extraordinaire!!! Make sure you scroll down until you see the “sombrero hat” — it’s my favorite!!
I just made the first ever edit to my blog based on a critic’s comments…
The innocent days of blogging are over and the “looking over my shoulder” days have begun!!!
Just kidding… it was a worthwhile critique.
I met someone at church this Sunday who said that being able to read the blog was an instrumental part in her decision to come to Antioch. Totally cool!!
It’s fun to hear and it’s also in line with my thoughts on blogging — that it’s an easy and effective communication tool that allows for “digital discipleship” and provides a forum for a different take on things.
Anyway, I’m having fun!
I’ve been doing a lot of study on Martin Luther for a message that I’m going to give a week from Sunday. It made me begin thinking about Luther & Blogging…
It’s fun when others get excited about the things that you are excited about.
Today, I got an e-mail from Rachel Reber that she had begun “blogging.” Success!
I’m also encouraged and reminded of what Paul essentially says in Corinthians… that everyone has something to say!

I’ve gotten some questions about comments — what they are and how to leave them.
Simply put, blogs allow for an ongoing dialogue through a comment feature. The comment feature allows a reader to respond, share a thought, ask a question, make an observation or even reply to a previous comment. With each new comment, the conversation continues.
To leave a comment simply hold the pointer over the “comment” line at the bottom of a post. You can leave an anonymous comment, but its much more fun if you attach your name!
