As many of you probably know, yesterday was World AIDS day.
People from around the world focused on AIDS and the destruction that it has caused for 25 years.
Today, there are about 40 million people living with HIV worldwide, and it is increasing in every region in the world. In Africa, it is the leading cause of death — 5,500 Africans die each day from this disease.
In addition, HIV/AIDS orphans more than 6,000 children every day.
Tomorrow at Antioch we will be discussing this humanitarian crisis and what we can do to help those who have been affected – especially orphans and widows.
In the meantime, here is a link to an organization co-founded by Bono of U2 that sells RED merchandise with proceeds going to AIDS relief in Africa.
For those of you who tried unsucessfully to reach the website via the link, the website is http://www.joinred.com.
