Take a Stand Against Bullying

Take a Stand Against Bullying

Guest Post by Melissa McCreery
Bullying has come to be an all-to-common word in our vocabulary. Lately, it seems that it’s pervaded every facet of society. Bullying in K-12 schools (30 percent of kids ages 12-18 say they’re bullied at school), bullying at the collegiate level (a study by Leah Hollis found that bullying exists in higher education at an alarming rate), bullying in the workplace, bullying in cyberspace, even bullying in the NFL. As this issue has risen to the forefront of mainstream media and culture, individuals around the country are rallying to educate society about the dangers of bullying, in hopes of eradicating this behavior from our culture (and certainly from our schools).

Two Kilns College students (Aaron Fry and his wife Kerri Fry) recently launched a nonprofit called the Justice Film Circle, a monthly showcase for filmmakers, musicians, and advocates to dialogue and engage around issues of injustice.

The next Justice Film Circle event will engage attendees around combating bullying in our schools and our communities. Visit their Facebook page for details.
