  1. Hi Pastor Ken,
I’ve been thinking about tithing as it relates to Antioch. I’m sure you have thought of this. On a yearly basis, our pastor in The Dalles, Jim Hazlett, would discuss tithing from the biblical angle, and then finish by asking us to make a monthly commitment for a year. Maybe not 10%, but as much as we could prayerfully arrive at. As a rookie tither, this made sense. As the months and years went on, God taught me about tithing and the blessings that come with it. I learned that you can’t “out-give” God. This challenge was well accepted, and it was a blessing to our church family. Thanks for your time.
    Andy.

  2. Andy – that is a good thought and something I have pondered. I might try to hold an ‘after service’ budget meeting early in January to discuss this and some other things related to the 2012 budget. Antioch has grown 24% in 2011 so somehow we’ll need to try and raise the budget accordingly.

The Antioch community has always been faithful and generous and we’ve never gone with out – so I’m trusting God this year will work as well!

Again, thanks for the encouragement to speak directly to the church about the budget and tithing.

    God bless,
    Ken
