The 4th of July falls on a Sunday this year.
As a result, we wrestled as staff on whether to have our Sunday morning worship service or not. In the end, we all decided that it would be silly to cancel church as most of the BBQ’s and fireworks are set for the evening. We can easily hold church in the morning without it doing to much harm to people’s family traditions.
So, instead of canceling church because of the 4th, we figured it would be a great opportunity to build community. We’re having a shorter service, canceling Redux and having an all-church BBQ right after the service – full on with jumpy booths for the kids and all!
I’m sure there will be other churches making different decisions – and that’s cool too – but for us it seemed like a great opportunity to value church and come together as a community.
Hope to see you on the 4th if live in Bend or are in town!!
