I shared a part of a letter in a message this last Sunday at Antioch.
It was a letter that I received in response from Eugene Peterson when we were getting ready to plant the church.
It had been over a year since I looked at it and somehow I ended up rereading it last Monday and was amazed at how well it tied in with what we have been talking about the last few Sundays.
I forwarded it on to our staff and elders and thought I’d also post it online since I’ve had several requests.

just catching up on your blog…seeing this post alongside the previous (WR NEXT) left me with the strong impression of how much energy you are putting into the kingdom and meaningful relationships that expand beyond Antioch and benefit the christian community (as opposed to a narrow focus on just one church). If you don’t have a hand in some sort of global reformation (which only time will tell), you at least will have contributed to changing the lives of a great number here in central oregon. I commend you for your vision and your steadfastness in following God’s program rather than the one that is designed to turn you and/or your congregation to “superstar” status.
Eugene Peterson clearly has a heart for people and God’s kingdom and it’s a blessing to see that same heart in your ministry.
