I’m learning that there are certain words and concepts that I don’t like and , therefore, shy away from.
Among them are marketing and small groups.
This is not a good thing…
The biggest mistake I’ve made in the launch of Antioch is underemphasizing small groups (whatever name they are given). People need to connect. A church, at bottom, is essentially a community — if people don’t build relationships they don’t connect to the church.
I’m trying to recover from my mistakes and at the same time learn that just because I don’t fancy a word or a concept it doesn’t make the concept worthless.
I (and many other people) bristle at small groups, but they are nonetheless invaluable and necessary.
Maybe just find a better name than “small groups” and it’ll be easier?
