Bonhoeffer, David and Goliath, and the Sistine Chapel

This quote by Dietrich Bonhoeffer on Easter in his Letters and Papers from Prison is what made me think of my Easter Sermon for this year. “What do Dietrich Bonhoeffer, David and Goliath, and the Sistine Chapel have in common?” (Next week, “What do C.S. Lewis, the Grand Canyon, and Mary Magdelene have in common?”

Last week saw the passing of a good friend who had an infectious spirit, commanding presence and prophetic voice. Richard’s talk last summer at Antioch was one that needed to be, and still needs to be heard. I, and many others, will miss him greatly.
