With the launch of Antioch this Sunday I thought it would be a great time for some reader interaction!!
If you’re out there, leave a comment and let us know what you are most excited about with the birth of this church (whether you are near or far — new to Antioch or have been with us since the beginning.)
Who knows, I might even print out the comments and drop them into our history album.
I’ll start…
What excites me is the energy of a new beginning. They say that 70% of the fuel on the space shuttle gets burned up in the first mile of flight (breaking the inertia etc.) and starting a church has required all the energy that a large group of people could muster. And just like its a great feeling playing so hard on the football field that nothing is left, its great being able to give everything we’ve got to God and each other so that nothing is left. Like the Apostle Paul said… “being poured out like a drink offering…” and I’m loving every minute of it!
Your turn!!
I’m just excited that it’s finally going to happen! After a year of waiting and preparing, it’s all about to come together for the first time.
Nothing’s more fun than seeing God’s plans falling into place and knowing that we’ve been a part of it.
It’s the people that excite me. I can’t wait to go go church tomorrow and be surrounded by lots and lots of people–some old friends, some new. These are the people who have been put in my path to do life with, share memories with, make traditions with, raise children with, and together grow in the love and knowledge of God. Antioch is a community–a family, and that’s what excites me most! :)
I’m super excited about seeing lives changed. The greatest change in my own life has been my inolvement with Antioch College/Career group and now Antioch Church. My passion is to love on people and see God work in amazing ways. Antioch is just so different and I truly value that. It’s authentic and ‘real’ which I appreciate. As talked about today during the launch service, Life IS messy and I’m glad we can recognize and talk about it. I’m so stoked for Antioch! I can’t wait to see what God does:):)

Well, as the the day came and went, I think we were all left with a great sense of pride in achievement!! Everything went off w/o a hitch and I can’t believe how many new faces were there!! We are so excited for next week :D Ken, you absolutely rocked the theater (can’t say pulpit really…) with your clear and poignant message. We sure love ya!!
It reminds me of the first chapter of Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings trilogy, which is entitled (as you all well know) “A Long-expected Party.” As in that story, Antioch’s launch included an awesome crowd and remarkable fireworks, and promises to be the beginning of a great, great journey and saga.
It was worth the wait! Antioch has brought purpose back into “church”! It feels as if I have been wondering and am now, finally, home! That feeling is priceless and so meaningful.
