Brought back. Restored. Religion is at its best when people are free to ask questions. It is at its worst when doubts, fears, questions, hang-ups, thoughts and issues are suppressed. Jesus allowed questions. The Inquisition was designed for the purpose of suppressing questions.

In 1517 Martin Luther began the Reformation by nailing 95 issues (called “theses”) to a church door in Wittenberg, Germany. His hope was to spark a dialogue with others about the Christian faith that would return the Church to a more authentic New Testament expression. His desire for dialogue was met with excommunication.

The mistake we often make is to believe questions lead us further away from truth. We confuse curiosity for blasphemy and avoid asking questions because we think they drift away from truth. But, the truth is, questions can facilitate the process that leads us closer to truth. Embracing questions increases our potential for insight and understanding.

The Q&A Service (Redux) is Antioch’s attempt to give church back to the people. It is our attempt to permit any and everyone with the opportunity to ask hard questions. It is our hope that all might freely wrestle with their faith.
