I was thinking back to a great dinner we had on our vacation with Ed and Judy Underwood. Ed is the Sr. Pastor at the historic Church of the Open Door and his first book about his battle with cancer called, “When God Breaks Your Heart,” is set to release soon.
Ed has a great way with words… here are some of his quips.
“Timing is God’s signature on events.”
He often says to his staff when they are over zealous that “you can see the light, but you don’t feel the heat.” (Meaning… it’s not your phone that is going to ring off the hook with peoples’ objections).
Ed doesn’t believe that preaching is the main thing that will change his people, but “creating a culture of protective love.”
