So here are a couple of random things I learned tonight :) Blue eyes are supposedly more sensitive to light. I’ve always thought this must be true (I can’t handle bright light), but now I know! That John Piper’s passwords all end in 827 (a reference to his favorite verse: Romans 8:27) That on May

One of the things that gets to me is when people express their ideas in a critical rather than helpful manner. If something isn’t the way it can be then our approach should always be encouragement, creativity or jumping in with sleeves rolled up and a willingness to help. Somehow the human race has a

I like this manifesto from Mark Batterson, author of In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day. Quit living as if the purpose of life is to arrive safely at death. Set God-sized goals. Pursue God-ordained passions. Grab life by the mane. Go after a dream that is destined to fail without divine

As less and less people read, or have the time to read, I spend more and more energy trying to figure out ways to grow spiritually that don’t involve books. I cleaned my desk up this morning (and it wasn’t even a New Year’s Resolution!!) It’s amazing how getting things tidied up and organized makes everything feel better and more under control! Maybe this was part of why God commanded the Sabbath Day? Anyway, I’m realizing that I need to spend less time working this

I’ve been e-mailing with a good friend who now classifies himself as a recovering evangelical after spending 30 years in the church and raising three sons. My friend is mature, godly and knowledgeable. He is not a young reactionary – he is responding to the failure of our American version of church. As I read
